Dell Events Committee
Committee chair: Alexa Iles Skarpelos

The Dell Events Committee is an umbrella over a group of sub-committees that are organized to support specific events. Volunteers are needed for planning, promoting, set-up and break down.

Meet & Greets: A few times a year the HDCA organizes casual gatherings at local venues, often in lieu of a monthly membership meeting. These are festive and relaxed opportunities to meet neighbors, find out what’s going on in the Dell, and discover new local hot spots.

Summer BBQ & Pet Parade: This old-fashioned block party stretches along Ivarene from Vine to Willetta. Featuring a live pick-up band comprised of Dell residents, an extensive spread of classic grub, a parade of pets and activities for kids, this annual gathering is a family and four-legged favorite.

Holly-ween: A safe and sweet celebration! The littlest residents of the Dell gather in costume for a party of crafts and games, then parade along a pre-arranged route to trick-or-treat as a group. It is a great chance for families with young kids to meet and mingle.

HDCA Gala: Every now and then we like to throw a swanky, adults-only bash and raise money for a good cause! The HDCA Gala typically features complimentary wine, a buffet supper with live music, silent and live auction items and a breathtaking view of Los Angeles from our own “Tara” on top of the hill in the heart of the Dell.

501c3 Feasibility Committee
Committee chair: Justin Walker

Initiated at the year-end membership meeting (October 2010), the 501c3 Feasibility Committee will research and evaluate the pros and cons of turning the HDCA into a registered non-profit (501c3) entity. Volunteers who have experience with setting up a non-profit are encouraged to join.

Franklin/Ivar Park Committee
Committee chair: Terri Gerger

The vacant lot located adjacent to the 101 freeway, at the NE corner of Franklin Boulevard and Ivar Avenue, was purchased by HDCA and CFRI-NCA and subsequently donated to the Mountain Recreation & Conservation Authority. The Franklin/Ivar Park Committee was formed to secure funding, develop a design plan and execute the creation of a vibrant and verdant community park. Volunteers are needed to assist with grant writing and solicitations of major foundations.

Friends of La Rocha Trail Committee
Committee co-chairs: Judy Kass Dowden & Alexa Iles Skarpelos

The Friends of La Rocha Trail Committee is working to preserve a precious stretch of green space right in the heart of the Hollywood Dell. The primary objective of the FOLRT is to raise the necessary funds to purchase the 10 lots that line the trail and donate them to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority to be preserved as a natural green space forever. Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising.
